I’m Phil Hurd, an independent software and information technology industry recruiter with a 3 decade track record.

My core principles are:

  • Use my own experience as an engineer to inform how I work for the benefit of my client companies and candidates.

Most of my recruiting has been focused within the Greater Boston, Massachusetts and New England software community.

I studied engineering (BSEE Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute / RPI, MSEE Northeastern University), and spent several years as a computer engineer, but eventually I realized that I liked working with the people in tech more than I liked doing the tech myself! That’s what led to my making a career change to software recruiting in 1987, and I haven’t looked back!

I became a top performer at a large and well-respected regional recruiting company, Winter Wyman, before eventually leaving to co-found Lynx, which by the late 1990’s had become a leading boutique recruiting firm. By 2014 it was time for a new challenge, so I launched Oculus Search Partners, which is my own personal recruiting practice.

I also have a separate business, Catalyst Resumes LLC, which helps technology executives, managers, and engineers write compelling résumés, LinkedIn profiles, biographies and cover letters.
